I have been off dairy for 5 weeks, but really think it’s the meds that made my baby better. I had cheese on my sandwich today at lunch. If she is going to be bothered by this, what will I see and when will it happen?
fussiness and poor sleep, aggriavation of reflux. honestly i am not sure how long it takes to pass from the breastmilk. basically though, it can take a while, because many times the milk proteins have to build up in her system to see a reaction. so if you really want to know, i would eat more than just a piece of cheese.
good luck! many reflux babies are mspi and cannot handle dairy or soy for quite a while.
well you’d see ‘immediate kinds’ of results 3-4hrs after eating an ‘offending’ food
but for something like milk, it’ll take 2 weeks to leave your system- so if baby starts reacting, then it’ll take 2-3 weeks to clear out your system again…
Well Friday I had a birthday dinner at a local italian restaurant, which included cheese and butter, etc. I ate what I wanted. I was watching her very closely and didn’t really see any corresponding behavioral change, so that is why I decided to eat cheese today and see if anything else happened.
We were told at four months (after a endoscopy and biopsy) that since the biopsy was normal Brianna didn’t have allergies and to eat what I wanted. (before this board and learning the difference between intolerance/allergy) So I did and for about three weeks everything was great. Then all the sudden the night waking started and the naps went back to 30 min. It wasn’t until two months later when out of sheer exasperation I cut dairy/soy out again did my child start sleeping through the night again. If you think it was the meds, there is nothing wrong with doing a dairy trial, just realize you need to wait 2-3 weeks before you can make a clear determination. Good luck!
