InactiveHello All,
I am so very glad that I found this site. I felt so alone when dealing with my son’s reflux problems. I feel like I keep going round and round with is doc. Here is the scoop. My son is 10 weeks old and has been showing signs of reflux since he was a couple of weeks old. About three weeks ago I took him to his ped because he was misrable. She diagnosed him with GERD and we put him on Zantac and I started to take him to the chiro. He never got 100% better but I would say he was feeling a little better. About two weeks into the Zantac he got worse. At his 2 month I was told to try Prevacid. He has been on Prevacid 7.5mg once a day and two days ago I got his dose to 7.5mg 2x a day.The problem, he is still having severe gas problems. His stomach will get very hard and he has tons of trouble passing gas. He wakes up screaming and crying. My poor baby. Any suggestions of what I can do would be greatly appreciated.I would not say that his other symptoms have disappeared either. He still gags and choke, spits up (although this has nevered botherd him), hiccups like they are going out of style, fussy while eating sometimes (EBF), and the severe gas pains. The doc told me to give the 2x dose through the weekend. But if it is not working now will a couple of days make a difference???Thanks a ton for any responses.HELP, HELP, HELP!!October 7, 2010 at 7:00 pm #67120hellbennt
Keymasterwhat formula? or are you breastfeeding?
this may be the cause of gas (not breastfeeding! but something in your diet…not formula! but the *kind* of formula…)October 7, 2010 at 10:03 pm #67121Anonymous
InactiveI am breastfeeding and have elimated all dairy..any other ideas???? Thanks for the response. His ped prescribed hyoscyamine drops for cramping and colic like symptoms, his chiropractor things he might have a hernia. I think I will have to take him to a GI. Should that be my next step?

Keymasternext step would be TED- total elimination diet- there’s a whole forum here
(I did it- it’s not so bad, lol!)I have more to say, but am running out the door- look for posts by ERINTX she’s the expert!there should be some stickied posts by her or, if not do a search (button is located on the upper right-hand corner of this screen) and put ‘erintx sticky’ as key words or try searching by her username erintx -
