InactiveAriella’s been refusing her formula lately. Is she tired of it? She eats everything I give her and enjoys eating but when it comes to drinking the formula, she’ll drink 2-3 oz and doesn’t want any more. Any ideas?

Inactiveshe is close to that 1yr mark. Are you giving it in a bottle or a cup? She may just be getting ready to change over, I have no clue really.

InactiveAlex is doing the same thing and has been for quite a while. She refuses to drink anything except water from a sippy cup, so we keep giving her the bottle two to three times a day because at least she’s getting a few ounces in. At every meal we give her a sippy cup with milk. She usually takes a sip of milk, makes a face, puts the cup down and waits until the end of the meal when we give her a sippy of water. Then she drinks the whole cup of water. We’re hoping that she’ll get thirsty during dinner and start drinking the milk, but she’s holding out so far!

InactiveTaylor too! Sippy cups with only water or juice, refuses milk in a cup. So for that reason she is still getting 3 (6oz) bottles of milk a day. Alexis would only drink milk from a bottle until she was 2 years old as well! I guess I really did not care since they both refused bottles for so long as an infant, so I get the milk in anyway I can.

InactiveThis often happens with ear infections with us. She eats OK but drinks little.
How many times do you offer it? We dropped to twice by then..consolidating three small feeds into two?Alana does her formula out of a straw cup now…I have a different type for milk and a different type for water. I’d probably be tempted to try a different vessel.September 12, 2007 at 3:35 pm #42548Anonymous
InactiveNo, the formula she has to drink from the bottle only. Therese, I was suspecting the same thing. Something must be up (I hope it’s not her ears). I was thinking of maybe starting her on milk already but don’t know which milk to try. She’s on lactose free formula now.

InactiveWe had a similar problem with Sarah…she would ONLY drink water or juice from a sippy. I kept her on a bottle for a while longer than she really needed only b/c it was the only way I could get her to drink milk! (or formula at the time). We ended up doing what Therese said…I gave her milk in a straw cup one day (different than her ‘regular’ sippy) and she guzzled it. Within a few weeks I was able to put milk in her regular sippy and now she doesn’t care!

Inactiveif you think she is lactose intolerant i would def. do the lactose free milk.. its whole milk like laura said, and it tastes the same! my neice had to be on that one until 2 and a half.. and now does regular milk fine.
as for the bottles, i would think something is up too.. but usually in our case the solids go down as well.and i too give shane 3 bottles a day.. of milk. no formula or milk in sippy.. he actually doesnt care for the sippy cup much, i think because he isnt too thirsty from getting 3 bottles still. i like the fact that he is drinking all his milk..and i am not too worried about how he gets it.. plus the bottle is like a soother to him, and is my saving grace sometimes 😉anyhow…. i hope if something is up..she feels better soon! and if its not something.. maybe try the lactose free milk sometime soon??September 13, 2007 at 4:36 pm #42599Anonymous
InactiveLauren, I’m going to buy the milk soon and slowly introduce it to her. Any ideas of how to do it?

Keymasteryou could try adding an ounce at a time to her formula…
or you could just pour a little bit in a sippy cup & see what happens…maybe even put an ice cube in there to make it fun (clank clank
) or bothSeptember 13, 2007 at 9:17 pm #42627Anonymous
Inactivei agree. i guess it depends on if you want her off bottles! if she drinks it from the sippy cup …great. if not.. i would add it slowly to her formula in the bottle.
g’luck!! keep us posted on how it goes!! -
