We started with the sippy around 6 months too, but off and on, she just didn’t seem too interested in it. Only maybe since around 9ish months have we consistently given her a cup every day. (Oh, and Dagney still doesn’t hold her bottle either, but I think the heaviness of the Dr Brown’s makes it hard for the lo’s to hold on to. I’ve been using Playtex Nursers now and then now, and she holds and swings that all over the place!
I have always used Nuby’s too, and I’ve noticed if you don’t have the soft nipple top hooked just right into the plastic ring, it will leak like crazy! I’m thinking of trying out other cups just to encourage Dagney a little more to drink more. She does well sometimes, but I think the taller bottle-like ones may just be too heavy if there’s too much water in it, and if there’s not enough, the babies have to lean so far back to get it out that they get discouraged! She seems to do great when I hold the tall one for her, but the shorter one w/ handles may be better for her to do. We’ve always just put water in, we’re trying to avoid juice for as long as possible so she won’t have a sweet tooth later on (hopefully!).
