InactiveNot sure if it’s because of the refulx or because he hasn’t developed a routine. My little Jake seems to fight nap time all day long. Then, he crashes at bed time and sleeps most of the night, but he won’t seem to take a very good nap during the day and then he is cranky all day. Any suggestions? I don’t think it’s because of the reflux. He goes to bed pretty easily at night, but he is grumpy if he doesn’t get two good naps during the day. Please help. First time mom.

InactiveHonestly, Addy was the exact same way until we got her reflux and FPIES under control. She is my first child so it might just be the way she is. She would sleep great at night but would be an awful napper until around 7-8 months which was when everything was under control. I hope things get better and he starts to nap better!

Keymasterjonah was Sir No Nap
I tried everything
different meds, different timing of the meds, different doses of the meds, etc etc
I like to blame the reflux, but who knows…
he miraculously started to nap at 18months & continues to nap at almost 4yrs old…
doesn’t help you much, I know

but just keep trying changing all kinds of variables- mylanta before nap, higher dose of PPI in the a.m., zantac before a nap (2-4 hrs seperate from the PPI), wearing him to sleep, rocking him to sleep, wearing & rocking him to sleep, etc etc

InactiveI would work on a nap routine as you have a bedtime routine. Cooper naps are not the best, but I do make sure I put him down at least 3 times/day. Some naps are only 30minutes and like yesterday he slept for 2.5hrs…. I was shocked he has never napped that long before. But I am pretty structured with his sleep routine, not times or anything, but things we do to get ready for sleep. Naps involve playing and then a book if he makes it to a book and then into the crib… sometimes it takes 20-30mins for him to actually fall asleep but at least he knows he needs to sleep.
At this age they are still unpredictable with sleeping, but we are working hard… we still don’t make it the whole night, but I am hoping that will change soon as well. Good Luck

InactiveNaps were also horrific over here. What time are you putting him down to bed at night. I prefer an earlier bed time, and then doing the first morning nap around 9am, then the midday nap around noon, then early to bed around 6:30 when they’re that age. Both my kids had trouble with naps, but keep with it. Try a routine. Also try to catch him when he starts giving you cues that he’s tired but before he’s overtired. We liked room darkening shades and white noise for during the day. Good luck.
