I would like to know what is the best brand of sun screen for toddler.
Thank you

They have a kids version that’s SPF 45, though I’ve heard that really anything above 30 isn’t needed. I don’t really think it matters as long as it’s approved by the dermatology association and is broad spectrum. We also look for PABA free, though I’m not sure why.
June 22, 2006 at 9:22 am #10270AnonymousInactiveCoppertone has one that is called water babies and its 50 SPF. It is what our doctor recommended.
June 22, 2006 at 10:39 am #10277AnonymousInactiveWe use the Baby Magic brand 50 SPF and it works great. It does go on thick though but at least you can see where you’ve put it. We are in Georgia so we have to do sunscreen almost everyday. His daycare prefers the spray on kind though for the kids (probably quicker when you have to put it on a bunch of kids) so I plan on picking some of it up the next time I am out. I also “try” to always keep a hat on Seth when he is outside. One Step Ahead also sells some cute SPF protection swim clothes that we have too.
June 22, 2006 at 4:02 pm #10313hellbenntKeymasteri love love love http://www.tugasunwear.com/catalog/ !! check out the clearance section! this is great for the pool/beach/water
for sun screen in a perfect world, I’d use the stuff from the health food market, like california babies (I used that first w/ jonah like when he was 6months old), but it’s soooo expensive!!! I jsut buy regular ‘baby’ kinds of brands- like waterbabies, etc…
June 22, 2006 at 4:26 pm #10315AnonymousInactivei buy whatever is cheapest, as long as the spf is high enough. we’ve never had a problem—-although when they try and put it on themselves and it gets in their eyes it is not fun. i try to buy it at the dollar store when i can—-and i often get name brands there.
June 22, 2006 at 5:11 pm #10323AnonymousInactiveHard to say, some have reactions to one brand that another child won’t it’s kind of trial and error, we have always used NOAD 50, or baby banana boat waterproof tearfree hypoalergenic(it’s so gentle to the eyes that I have literally GOTTEN it in my 6 year old’s eye and he has not complained nor did his eye get red) 50…
June 22, 2006 at 9:37 pm #10343AnonymousInactiveThank you everyone for the recommendation.
Lori – what is PABA free?
June 22, 2006 at 11:14 pm #10354AnonymousInactiveCoppertone has a new spray on sunscreen which is awesome. It goes on very even and isn’t thick like other baby sunscreens. I’m guessing it’s not as waterproof but it’s still SPF 50.
June 23, 2006 at 7:06 am #10362AnonymousInactiveI agree with Stacey – the spray on sunscreen from Coppertone is
WONDERFUL – especially when you have active little ones who won’t sit
still. If the boys are just playing outside I use that. If
they are going to be in water, we stick with the Waterbabies which is
more waterproof according to a pharmacist.June 23, 2006 at 7:40 am #10364AnonymousInactiveI keep meaning to try that spray on/Coppertone one, thanks! Is it good
for very sensitive skin? Marisa broke out on her face from the Baby
Blanket one – we’ve been using this Baby Lizard one on her face
since.June 23, 2006 at 8:39 am #10366hellbenntKeymastersomeone posted this at http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48422
colorescience powder sunscreen at http://www.ariva.com/cosuspf30bra1.html Not cheap, but so much easier than lotion AND I can put it on the scalp easily.
and I just created a ‘spin off’ thread about sun protective clothing/gear, here: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5871&a mp;PN=1&TPN=1
