my carpal tunnel seems to be healing well. i am scheduled to havemy left wrist done on dec 4th, but, in the meantime, kevin is going to have to have orthoscopic surgery on his knee. he is having it done the day before thanksgiving since he has 4 days off in a row to get rested up and then go back to work on monday. since he is no longer on a salary and has no sick leave or vacation anymore, we have to take advantage of any time that he already has off if he needs something done.
our orthoped is a really generous and kind man. when kevin told him that he had the day after thanksgiving off, he was willing to work kevin in for surgery, even though it was kind of a last minute deal.when i needed my wrists done, kevin told him he didn’t know how long it would take us to pay him off and he said not to worry about that. we pay him about 10.00 dollars a month and he doesn’t say a word—in fact, if anything gets said to us about our bill it makes him upset.we really need to get kevin to an endocrinologist. he quit his thyroid meds and his levels dropped really fast. his face was starting to swell up. he had told me his tooth was bothering him and i told him it looked like his face was swelling, but he didn’t believe me. it was swelling alright, but not from the tooth. the doc put him on the same dose of meds he had been on last year and isn’t planning on checking him for 3 months. the other docs would always check at one month.in the meantime, he got a large chip in his bridge. he has two upper bridges that span 3 teeth each. when the dentist was checking the chip, he discovered that the whole bridge on one side was loose! the next day, kevin tells me that one of the crowns on his bridge had come off. i looked at it and realized it wasn’t part of his bridge—it was a crown on the tooth right behind one of the bridges!!!! the poor guy has had a rough go of it recently. the dentist told him that he is going to warranty the entire bridge, so hopefully it won’t cost us anything to get everything fixed back up again.lots of nitpicky little problems—i’m greatful they are just little problems—gotta look at all the things i can be greatful for!!!!!November 23, 2008 at 11:55 am #58916AnonymousInactivegoodness that is a lot of stuff going on! I feel for you guys and both of you are in my prayers for speedy recoveries with your upcoming surgeries. knee surgery seems rough after only 4 days recovering!

November 26, 2008 at 11:34 pm #59028AnonymousInactivekevin’s surgery went well. his knee was a little worse in one area than the doctor thought. he said the area that is bone-on-bone is about the size of a quarter. he shortened his opinion on how long before kevin would need a knee replacement, but then he did say there were some other options first.
he let me go into the surgery room and watch the surgery. i really couldn’t see kevin’s knee much, but i could watch the whole thing on the screen. he also did a punch biopsy on some little thing and removed another one of kevin’s lipoma’s. i saw him making the cut, but the thing popped out so fast that i missed it. i wanted him to do another one so i could see it, and he was about to, but the anesthesiologist said kevin was starting to wake up, so they couldn’t do it. i wonder if they think i am totally weird. they said they have a few people that want to go in and watch, so, at least if they think i’m nuts, i’m not the only one!!!hopefully he will be ready to go back to work on monday without too much pain.kevieb2008-11-26 23:36:05
