InactiveHi all,
It has been awhile since my last posting, unfortunately nothing has changed in Sven°s eating habits. We are still struggling with sleep feeding, which he takes time to time ok, but mostly it is nipple in and out the whole time. I believe he knows he is eating, but he is so tired he can not reject it. What are your experiences with sleep feeding? Do you think babies know that they are eating or not?
We are trying with spoon as well, which is a disaster. He would – once a week maybe – take two to three spoons of something relatively ok, most of the times, he would not open his mouth or would not swallow at all; I do not think he has got the taste problem, he simply does not want to eat. My doc suggested to give him a pickle to see how he reacts on sauer taste – believe it or not – he took a pickle and suck the viniger.
The only method that sometimes works is giving him food into his hands. The other day I gave him squash baked on olive oil which he adored. It was all messy and I do not know how much actually left in his mouth but he apeared he liked it. Have you ever try that?
We did not go to see any doctor at all since my last visit ended up with big dissapointment. I can not listen this stupid advises like do not feed him if he does not like to eat, he will tell when he is hungry or he takes as much as he needs etc. I am so desperate – which I was already 3 month ago – that I do not have any idea what to do anymore. I do not know when, how and what to give him. Wheather he is too tired to eat or too active to eat, he is too full or too hungry. No option is optimal for him to eat.
We did try with everything Lori your therapist is advising. Infront of TV, eating with him, making faces, chewing like idiots infront of him etc……..nothing helps. i migh be lucky to trick him with one spoon which he hates if I do it.
Well, that is our life right now. To be even more sad, we met some friends yesterday who have got a girl same age as Sven. They took her out of the troley and offered her milk, which she finished in 10 min without any problem. I almost cried.

I am sad, but I still believe one day our kids will start to eat.
Regards to all of you,

InactiveHi Barbara,
It’s good to hear from you again, though I was hoping that things were better with Sven. I think that you last posted that he was going for some physio, is that right? What came of that? Hailey also is still not eating, so I know what you’re going through. I’ve posted what our feeding therapist suggested under a link called feeding therapy, but it sounds like you’ve checked that out already. I don’t really have any good advice unfortunately, if I did, maybe we’d be better off too. Big Hugs to you. I hope that things improve for you soon.
