InactiveHi…. haven’t been on her in awhile but things have not been the best for us lately and this weekend was a really rough one…! Have some questions maybe someone can help with.
My little girl is 9mths old and we are slowly introducing food and having a rough time with it. I will update my signature after this post to give you the history of her.So I am trying to figure out why she has been so miserable and I am not doing a good job of it!She doesn’t have any teeth so I think it could be her teeth. We were in the car a bit and she would just scream in her car seat and stroller. It was like she hated her seat again and we are in the Britax seat which she was fine in.Then when we are sitting for lunch she is just screaming. She has just been doing a lot of screaming and I don’t know why!!It is killing me and my patience is not here it is like when she was 3wks old and we wasn’t on any meds!!I keep thinking we can wean her off the meds but I don’t see that happening at all!Are BLUEBERRIES a problem for reflux babies??? I was giving her grapes for a bit but thought that was causing her so much distress so we stopped that. She has a yeast infection in her mouth so my Ped prescribed Nystatine for her mouth and I read the side affects and it says upset stomach!!!!! So I wasn’t giving it to her the 3 times a day and I noticed her mouth yesterday and it was getting worse so I did give it to her today 3 times.Has anyone had problem with the Nystatine???? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for a yeast infection???She woke up the other night and she kept trying to sit up and was just crying so hard – gave her some Mylant and she went back to sleep!! I guess I keep thinking that she doesn’t need the Mylanta and I think we are going to be done with all this medicine but then we CAN’T!!!!I am just so confused on what her problem is that I don’t know where to start!! What do I feed her??? does she still need her Prevacid solutabs???Was going to start protiens but worried??? Does she still need Mylanta??? when will she start sleeping better??? Is she teething??? Is it the Nystatine??? Is she just pissed off and and unhappy baby??? She just seems like she is a bratty baby!!!I jsut want her to be a happy normal baby!!I am so lost!

Keymastershe is a baby and isn’t BRATTY. please mama! hold her, love her and help her
.
if she needs the meds, she needs the meds. she’s *only* 9 months and unfortunately some babies need meds longer than others…12 months is around the corner & you can re-assess meds then…what CAN she eat rather than what can’t she eat?
peas? green beans? broccoli? squash- yellow, zuchini, acorn, butternut, others? apples? plums (I mixed w/ apples)? banana? avocado? potato? sweet potato? carrots? parsnip?for the thrush you might want to try probiotics
Probiotics, the brands people have used and liked:
https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8970&PN=1hang in there mama, YOU can do it!
oh & if she has thrush & you’re breastfeeding you need to take the nyastin too or else you may wind up passing it back and forth to one anotherJune 16, 2010 at 2:59 pm #66492Anonymous
InactiveYou could also look into Diflucan for the thrush. Thrush is very painful so that is probably part of the problem. Until that is gone things probably won’t get any better. And like Laura said you probably need to be on something as well. Also thrush can make relfux worse which is probably another part of the problem. good Luck.

KeymasterI think one is preferred over another- christine, kevieb had a strong opinion about it, lol. but no seriously, her baby had esophogeal (sp) thrush…
found it! and it’s not ‘just’ christine, lol!
yes diflucan is preferred!

InactiveDiflucan worked wonders for my little one when she had thrush. It’s easier to use (just one dose per day I think) and works fast.
Anytime your baby is sick or bothered with anything from a virus, to teething, thrush, you name it, her reflux will likely flare. So, I’d keep her on her solutabs until the thrush is long gone before even trying to wean her off of them.
Hang in there. Like Laura said, she’ll be a year old before you know it. She will outgrow her reflux and it will be a thing of the past one day, but for now she appears to still be suffering. (I say that because the Mylanta helped. To me that’s a clear sign that her reflux is bothering her).

Inactivethanks for all your posts. I did go to the store today and got that gentian violet and tried that. It is suppose to work fast. I looked in her mouth today and it doesn’t look as bad as it did on Monday. I did start to give her the Nystatine on Monday when I saw how bad her mouth looked.
Now that I know that the thrush/yeast infection hurts her I feel SO BAD that I got frustrated with her!!! It sucks to feel like a bad mom! I am mad at my ped for not telling me that it would hurt her throat/mouth and also that I didn’t need to treat myself. This will be the 2nd time I was thinking about switching ped.I also gave her some Tylenol (generic) of course today/tonight and that seemed to help her and she did have a pretty good dinner. I gave her some avocado and she wanted some of my bagel/bread I was eating. She liked to chew on it – still doesn’t have any teeth.I am going to hold steady with her PPI for now until her mouth clears up.I am also going to wait to introduce turkey/meats to her until her mouth clears up.She is still a bad sleeper and has a hard time going to sleep on her own. I don’t know how to fix that one. I feel to guilty letting her cry so I hold her and rock/standing with her until she falls asleep. I know that is not the way to teach her to sleep but with the life she has had starting out I couldn’t think of another way to help her sleep. Like tongiht it took me 45min to put her to sleep….. I almost gave her some Mylanta but I felt like she has taken enough meds tonight… PPI, .Tylenol, Nystatine and then the genitian violet. I thought that was enough. As much as I want her to grow up to get past this DAMN REFLUX!!!!!!! I want to enjoy my little baby at the same time!June 16, 2010 at 10:06 pm #66496Anonymous
InactiveI just went and looked at that post you sent me – Laura – thanks.
I am going to call doc in the morning and ask for Difulcan. I hate that these docs make you take the sh*tty road first and your baby suffers! How will I know if the thrush is gone – is it only her mouth being white that I have to worry about? The funny thing about this is my nipples don’t hurt but I have them painted with the gential violet and her mouth is too. I also put the Nystatine on me and her.June 17, 2010 at 7:16 am #66497hellbennt
KeymasterI think in the post Christine (KevieB) tells about geniatian violet, too?
The Quote Below is from This Link

i think that gentian violet is a hold-over from the dark ages and that nystatin isn’t far behind it.
sylvia looked like her thrush had cleared up and wasn’t in her mouth, but it was in her esophagus.
