Jaxon has been teething for about a week and a half and actually cut his first tooth 4 days ago. He had a great day the next day and then WHAM it started again! There are no signs of another tooth coming and I have tried giving him tylenol (which made him freaky for hours) and motrin which actually worked for the pain, but he is refusing feeds again(bottles and solids which he was wild about). Is this a normal bump that you have to ride through or is there something i can do to decrease the acids.
I took him to the dr today and he said just wait for 2 weeks to see how he’s doing then, but i don’t want to undo all of the progress he’s made. I have given him gaviscon when he just wont calm down, but it just happens again the next time i attempt to feed him. Any ideas or pearls of wisdom? HeatherApril 11, 2006 at 5:35 pm #5931AnonymousInactiveWelcome! Is he on any meds? Teething makes reflux worse and some moms have to increase their PPI’s while teething. I would push for a PPI if he isn’t on one already. Refusing his food sounds like his reflux might be bothering him. Gaviscon did nothing for Emma. I gave mylanta cherry supreme before meals to help with the pain.
April 11, 2006 at 7:18 pm #5941AnonymousInactivethanks for the welcome! Yes he’s on Prilosec a 1/2 ml x2 per day. I actually had a Dr. visit today and brought a printout of the Marci kids info. and he looked at it and said that he was already on a high enough dose and that we will review again in 2 wks. Do you happen to know the conversion from mg to ml ? that was catching both of us up.
i will see if i can find some mylanta here (we live in a very small town in Northern BC -Canada, so a lot of things are unavailable).
April 12, 2006 at 10:08 am #5982AnonymousInactiveEmma is on Zegerid which is a immediate-release formulation of omeprazole (Prilosec), so the conversion we use is 2 mg/mL. I am not good at this medical stuff so hopefully Joel will chime in or you can email him @ [email protected] and he can help you also. So Emma’s would be 30mg/15ml, we give 5ml/3 x’s a day. So I am a little confused about the 1/2 ml 2 x’s a day that he is on b/c that seems like it is extremely low. There are other moms on here from Canada, so if you don’t get other responses on that you might want to make a new post to ask where you can get maylanta. Can you see another doc???? btrue2006-4-12 10:8:55

the bottle should tell you ___mg/ml
April 12, 2006 at 5:19 pm #6041AnonymousInactiveHi Brandy,
that’s my confusion as well. Unfortunately we only have 2 Dr.s in town and mine is the good one. I do think that he is trying to work with me, as he is very thorough(sp?) but i guess we’ll see in a couple of weeks if jaxon is still having problems. I havent been able to find any Milanta as of yet at the Grocery store, but I know that they will special order it for me.I can’t see anywhere on my rx bottle that says the mg/ml ratio. Maybe im confused Laura. I a (mg) equal to a (ml)?
April 13, 2006 at 11:01 am #6072AnonymousInactivekay, so you can tell how much sleep i’ve been getting. sorry about all the studpid questions. I am in the process of finding out the concentration of jaxons med from the pharmacy ( the bottle doesn’t state it!) and then will follow up with the dr. today if there is a discrepancy. thnks all for your patience.
