ok, i know just about half of everybody on this board feels this way—so i feel a little guilty even posting on here—but i am just so down today!!!! i can’t stop crying, i have had the rash from the depths of hell in the nether regions and have been treating it with everything i can think of.
i was just in to the doctor for this a few weeks ago, only it wasn’t quite as bad. he didn’t test it because he thought it was beyond the testing point—but it spread after i saw him, anyway. he gave me a brand name prescription to treat it instead of the generic and i paid a king’s ransom for the tiniest tube of cream they make above sample size, i’m sure.i’m beginning to think that maybe what i’ve got is shingles. i had them years ago, bilaterally, no less, which is rare—-don’t believe any doctor who says you can only get them on one side—he is ill informed. anyway, i had them across my back and down both legs. i have a scar on my lower back that is numb—so there must be some sort of nerve damage there–and it also means that the virus settled in the nerves of my lower spine. since the MRSA and all those antibiotics really did a number on my immune system, and herpes viruses are opportunistic viruses, and i was recently exposed to chicken pox and shingles——–are you seeing what i am thinking.i thought it was funny to get arthritis in my bum after breaking my tailbone, but i don’t think shingles in the crotch is very funny—if that is what it is—it hurts like hell sometimes to pee.
i am waiting for the docs nurse to call me to tell me when they can work me in.
i’m also waiting for my insurance to call me back on a claim that i think they are cheating me on. we get the first $500 of diagnostics and lab work covered 100% before deductible. we also get charged $100 for any ER visit which does not go towards deductible or our % of coverage after deductible.
i had approx. $200 of diagnostics done when i got MRSA. they only payed $100 of it at 100%, then used the other $100 as the $100 that we have to pay for an ER visit—–but, they went ahead and deducted the full $200 from the amount i am allowed for diagnostics. they are charging the same $100 dollars to 2 different places—-i don’t think this is legal.i have made repeat phone calls and get told they need to talk to a supervisor—bulll!!! i told them they didn’t need a supervisor because i know my policy and what they are doing is illegal.they have twice told me they would get the info to a supervisor with an urgent notice on it.this last time i told them i didn’t need a supervisor i needed a lawyer.from experience, i have learned that if i mention lawsuit, or something similar, i quite often get quick results—and i’m not a person that would dive into litigation—but i say what works when the need arises.so, here i sit, waiting for two different phone calls. we are also waiting for the results of kevin’s MRI and hoping he didn’t tear his ACL. if he did, he doesn’t have a good knee left, and he is not going to be able to keep doing the work he is doing. (he has torn the ACL twice in his other knee)i swear our life is governed by murphy’s law.thanks, if anyone got this far. it actually helped me to get it out of my system a little—that and the 2mgs of clonazepam i took.June 1, 2009 at 3:15 pm #62746AnonymousInactiveSome days are worse than others and this sure fits in that category on the top of the list!!!!!
Hang in there, Christine! I wish I had answers or even words of wisdom, but I am just at a loss for words. I think you and I must have been having a lot of fun and wronging someone in our past lifetimes as I feel like Karma is laughing in my face more often than not. I keep saying I hope I had a really good time as I have a lot of days that I am paying for it now!Hang tough and know you are strong and you will get through this!!!!!Ann MarieJune 1, 2009 at 10:08 pm #62751AnonymousInactiveChristine, I’m sorry you’re going through so much. Dealing with insurance companies is so frustrating . I have no suggestions and all i can do is offer you hugs
June 2, 2009 at 2:42 pm #62756AnonymousInactiveOh man! I am so sorry Christine. Thta sounds horribly painful. If it is shingles, I feel for you. I’ve heard from people that it is severely uncomfortable/painful to have. 🙁
Hang in there. I cannot stand insurance co’s, it is a constant fight here with them as well. Sometimes I feel like I was put on this earth to yell at them to cover things for us. lolHuge huggles.jilly782009-06-02 14:43:09
June 2, 2009 at 4:02 pm #62758AnonymousInactivewell, i got the insurance to fix their mistake.
i don’t have shingles—some other thing that i can’t remember the name of, but i have a huge container of ointment to use on it for about the next two lifetimes.kevin’s knee is torn to pieces inside. the ACL is torn, the two muscles that attach to the femur are torn, the meniscus is torn, there is edema in a number of different places and a loose foreign body behind the knee cap. i think there might be some other damage that i can’t remember, too.
fortunately, we won’t have to pay for the surgery because it is workman’s comp—but i don’t know what we will do while he is not able to work.now, the big challenge is to figure out how to not feel sorry for myself and all the problems we keep seeming to have.June 8, 2009 at 12:15 pm #62822hellbenntKeymasteroh christine!!!
any chance you’ve got lichen sclerosis?it’s like tiny paper-cut(s) down there…I also thought I had herpes years ago and turns out it was lichen sclerosis….it does seem to flare w/ stress, etc.I had chicken pox at 16 (after HAVING them at age 4!) and got the poxall around inside and outside my nether regions, yuck!!! PAINFUL!!I hope you’re on the mend and that your family catches a break SOON!!!June 9, 2009 at 12:19 pm #62837AnonymousInactiveit was called vulvar something or other and, fortunately seems to be improving—-but i stubbed my baby toe in the dark last night coming out of the bathroom and guessing i probably broke it. i broke a toe last year on the other foot. i’ve taped it next to the other toe—-i don’t think it really needs an x-ray—-i don’t know how likely it is that the bones would have not lined up—-that is really the only reason they x-ray a toe, i think. they don’t do anything else besides tape them together.
we were going to have a 5 mile hike with the scouts tomorrow—but since we have had so much rain, i think the leader has decided to cancel it until the end of the month—-i hope so, cause i can’t go.June 9, 2009 at 3:25 pm #62846AnonymousInactiveHi Christine! So glad to hear that you don’t have shingles. Though i think you’re probably in the clear for that, b/c usually once it comes out it doesn’t come back again. But, yes, I know that stranger things have happened. I once broke a toe and it was terribly painful, nothing to do for it, ice and elevate and wear a supportive running shoe (if you can get it into one with the toe swelling!). Hugs!!! Hope you feel better soon.
June 10, 2009 at 2:40 pm #62864AnonymousInactiveI hope you feel better soon! That is just so much all going on at once. My dh tore his ACL and ended up having complications that caused a total of 3 surgeries. He was unable to work for a long time and I had just had baby #2 so I didn’t work but we ended up ok! Everything always works out!
June 14, 2009 at 8:15 pm #62906AnonymousInactiveso many hugs and prayers your way. you really do need a break, to say the VERY least.
June 15, 2009 at 10:53 am #62931AnonymousInactivemy toe went numb the other night and made me a little nervous—so kevin talked to our orthoped. he said it was because of swelling and told me to ice it and come in for an x-ray the next morning to make sure things were lined up.
it is definitely broken. i never broke any bones when i was a kid and much more daring. -
