I am giving my dd the compounded form of prevacid (made at home with caracream – so no need to time around meals). Dr. prescribed it for 2x a day. I notice many posts give thier lo’s 3x a day because of the babies fast metabolism. Assuming first, my total dosage is correct, have you guys experienced a big difference in administering it 3x a day. And if so – what times do you administer the 3 doses for maximum effect?

Hi Jackie,
Bryce does really well with his three doses. (We use compounded Prevacid too). I noticed a difference with three doses, especially at night. I administer his doses (around) 8:00am, 2:00pm, and 8:00pm. Usually within a half hour of those times. This works well for us!

Myles did very well with three doses as well. I gave it to him at 6:30 or 7 am, 2:30 or 3 pm (depending on when he woke from his nap) and 7 or 7:30 pm.

we did 3 doses, too…

we ‘played’ around w/ timing & amounts of each dose a lot

Thanks for the replies – one follow-up question. By splitting it into 3 doses instead of 2 you are essentially mgiving less mg’s at the bedtime dose. None of you had problems with this lasting the long 12 hour stretch through the night?

you can split it anywhich way you like

we always gave ‘biggest’ dose at night/evening (so for example 30mgs split into 3 could be 7 + 7 + 16 or, any combination you come up with)

Okay, I have been giving Justice’s meds at 8 am, 4 pm, and in the middle of the night. Usually 1 or 2 in the morning. Do you guys think there could be any problem with giving a middle of the night dose?

By the way, it is possible I have asked this question before. I know I have at least thought about it. So, if I have asked before. Forgive me. I am very tired and my memory is shot. My name should be tired shelby or momma needs some sleep. Bring on the sleep. I am ready any day now.
