Hi, so sad that bb is no longer available. I loved not having to time around meals. I am switching to omeprazole capsules 20 mg. that I will give with applesauce. Well, I opened one up (not that easy) for the first time tonight and there are some beads and a tablet inside. I know I have to administer the beads, but what is the tablet for? Do I just discard that part? I hope I bought the right med! Also it’s the one with magnesium in it. Can anyone give me any pointers?
Thank you!
Luzaria

I have this, in Prevacid 101:You can use the OTC Prevacid (box says 24 hour- it says take one pill every 24 hours and it’s 15 mgs for one capsule) and the prescription Prevacid interchangeably. (Prescription box says: Prevacid Delayed Release capsule, 15 mgs per capsule). You can use these both with Bufferbabies (or Caracream) & also alone, given w/ apple sauce (give on an empty stomach w/ 1/2 tsp applesauce & follow w/ a ‘meal’ 30 minutes later).also: someone just posted about how to use otc zegerid…Zegerid – OTC(2) 20mg Zegerid Capsules
19ml mylanta Cherry Supreme
Shake and refrigerate, good for one weekTo help with excess gas from the buffering in Zegerid you can add Mylicon drops in the mixture and some in the bottle

So we are now dosing with pedialyte. We found out the hard way that ds is very intolerant of apples. The tablet inside the caps is mag [magnesium]. just toss it. If your lo [little one] can handle applesauce, it is the easiest. Or you can pour the beads into his mouth and wash down w/ unflavored pedialyte (I use a dropper ~5ml). It is a mess and sometimes it goes better than others.
I am hopeful everyday that RS [Reflux Solutions]will be back up and running!!!! GL[Good Luck] !!edited by hellbennt to help those who may stumble upon this later & not know all of the abbreviationshellbennt2011-11-22 08:02:30
November 22, 2011 at 8:03 am #69428hellbenntKeymasterOK helpful to know: you can use unflavored pedialyte instead of applesauce? You certain? I learn something new every day, LOL!
ADDING THIS:
perhaps use a flavored pedialyte (not unflavored)…hellbennt2012-06-03 22:18:35
November 22, 2011 at 8:43 am #69429AnonymousInactiveEverything I know I learned from here …. If you do a search for pedialyte in the medicine forum there will be a lot of threads about dosing with applesauce/juice/pedialyte.
Here is just one (stating that Dr. P recommends it, so you know it is credible 🙂 https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13618&KW=pedialyte

December 3, 2011 at 6:35 am #69499AnonymousInactiveThank you. I’m getting the hang of it now. At first I think I lost half the beads! Seems to be working well!

My lo is primarily EBF and eats all.the.time. I am looking into zeg+omep+mcs…. so hopefully the transition will go smoothly. Just a little worried about the gas issue.

June 4, 2012 at 9:50 pm #70431AnonymousInactiveAs soon as we were able to get TummyCare Max (formerly ccmax) we switched over and have been doing great on it. My guy is now 14mo and we have him weaned down to 10mg/day (YAY!!!). He is still very sensitive MSPI (along with wheat and a few other foods), we trialed at 12mo, but failed… so we will try to introduce again around 18m. So, as long as he is on omep and we (as I still breastfeed) stick to our diet… all is good. He is a very happy, healthy (very active) little guy. Looking forward to being on the other side someday, but we definitely have it down pat now!
June 5, 2012 at 4:27 pm #70440hellbenntKeymasterSo glad tummy care max did the trick! and your diet!can you share, maybe in the TED forum, how you did the TED & found ‘baseline’, etc? perhaps write something up like ‘erin’s sticky?’ to help other mothers?did you ever find a ped GI?can you post (even if you only found a BAD one, lol)Looking for GI: https://www.infantreflux.org/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=660

February 1, 2014 at 12:43 pm #72706AnonymousInactiveAn update on my little guy…
Jude will be three in March and he is still suffering from GERD. He outgrew his MSPI, apple and pea intolerance around 20 months (YAY!!!). I had his reflux well under control with him on OTC Omep and TCMax.
When Reflux Solutions went out of business, I attempted a very slow med wean around 26 months. It was a fail :(. We then switched to the Omep+Zeg+CC (also tried it mixing with TUMS and MCS) and it never fully controlled his reflux, but I would supplement occasionally with Pepcid Complete for night time relief. It was the worst during teething, illness or after vaccines.
Just this past week I received some BellyBuffers from a mom who had stocked up when she was expecting, and Infant-Acid-Reflux-Solutions was closing, as she was not needing them any longer. I actually gave his first dose this morning. He is on 10mg in the AM and 10mg in the PM. I am very hopeful that since he did so, so well on TCM that this will help him. A little worried about the gas, but fingers crossed!!!
I plan to try another slow med wean at 3 1/2, and if that is a fail we will be going to Vanderbilt (as I have had an awful, awful experience here with Ped GIs).
