We have ordered Tummy Care Max and it has been so helpful to not have to time it around food. My 2 months old daughter (dx with MSPI and reflux) has been on it for 2 weeks now. (prior to that we had tried zantac and then were on compounded prilosec) I was hoping I could seek advice/opinion however on a concern that has come up. We are mixing it with OTC Prilosec 20 mg and she is receiving 6.25mg three times a day because she is weighing 9 lbs 10 oz. I have recalculated it several times so I am thinking it is the correct dosage?? (we are mixing at the 2mg/mL)
Within a few day of starting it we began to see improvement and after about a week she was doing well with a lot less reflux symptoms and not in pain like she was. However, the last 2 days we have seen a significant flare in her reflux symptoms and she seem to be in pain again, particularly a couple hours before the next dose. I have been trying to figure out what has changed and I just realized there has been one thing we changed. In the beginning we were giving her the 3 doses divided during her daytime hours, with the last dose being around 9-10pm when she went down for the night. But she was having really restless sleep towards the end of the night so we began to spread the 3 doses into a 24 hour period (1st at around 9am, 2nd around 5pm and the 3rd at her first nightly feeding, anywhere from 12am-2am). It seemed to help in regards to her later sleeping time but I don’t know now if it could be related to her reflux flare up? I am wondering what we can do to better treat the reflux, whether that means I should start mixing tummy care with something else like Nexium, adding something in, dosing differently, or what? Any insight would be very greatly appreciated!!
