My son was born June of 2012, he is 5 months now. He weighs 17.5
pounds. We were on straight Nexium but no matter what I tried, he could not take it without spitting it all over the place. So I ordered the TCM. We are using generic Prilosec tablets 20mg in a 2mg
suspension. I titrated up to 5mL 3x a day. Every time I give him the
medication, he projectile vomits. I have tried giving it in just a
syringe straight and I have tried putting it in his bottle. He will
take the medicine but that is always the end result after his feeding. I
have also been giving him Colic Calm to reduce the gas. So I feel like he has no medicine even in his body if he is throwing it all up. His sleep is terrible. He takes (2) 30 minute naps each day and then night time is up and down all night. I just read on here about giving the Zantac in addition to the TCM so maybe I’ll try that. Any advice?November 21, 2012 at 5:33 pm #71228hellbenntKeymasterrather than gripe water or colic calm, maybe try probiotics?
I think if you would like to pursue the ‘colic’ route, then read here:
Wondertime article, Colic Solved:
page 2 of the article tells what probiotics help babies
probiotics, brands used:

also: I think the colic calm isn’t good to take w/ the PPIs?
I’ll do a search in a bit – ok, read through here:

as for the gas – I would look into protein intolerances/allergies- you say you give the colic calm for gas, but you might want to look into the reason for the gas…are you breastfeeding or formula? if formula, what kind?

I am using the Colic Calm for the excess gas/stomach discomfort caused when starting TCM (we are on day 6 right now). We are using Gerber Good Start Soy formula. I have tried probiotics in the past. I guess I need to go back to that.

We found that probiotics helped tremendously with the reflux because probiotics are what coat and protect the entire digestive tract. When someone has reflux, the acidity of it often kills the probiotics and leaves the esophagus unprotected and it becomes raw, inflamed and painful.
For the inability to break down proteins, we found a supplement of digestive enzymes made a HUGE difference! Digestive enzymes are the key to breaking down proteins. If there isn’t enough or any enzymes in the foods we eat, and/or our own body isn’t making enough then it will cause a lot of stomach pain, gas, and diarrhea and/or constipation.
The supplement that we use is called Digestive Health sold by Core Health Products They contain 13 different strains of probiotics and over 20 different types of enzymes to break down all the different types of food that we eat.
You can read my blog (see signature) to read more about what all we tried and found to help our boys. Also there are other people’s stories on there about what they found to help.
