It’s hard to know but I’ve often heard that babies at this age are
comfortable in same clothes/conditions as we would be – but I guess
it’s hard to know if the takes more after you or your husband. Maybe
try to dress him more lightly one night and see what happens? Also, do
you use 100% cotton sleepwear? Somewhere hear posted once that Dr.
Sears has found connection between that and sleep – since then we only
use 100% cotton sleepwear and sheets, etc.June 14, 2006 at 7:19 pm #9792AnonymousInactiveHi Karen
It gets so hot here in the summer so I know how difficult it can be. My daughter always kept her hat on so that was good, but for really hot days we have a shade that covers the entire front of the stroller. I made my own out of light shadecloth, but you should be able to find something in a baby store. As far as nighttime goes, we have some nights here where it doesnt get below 100 degrees. Both of my children have loved their summer grobags (http://www.grobagusa.com). They are the best sleeping bags and they have ones for summer and winter. Not only do they sleep better because they have the feeling of being covered by something, my children also know that when their bag goes on its time for bed. They are expensive but well worth it.
Hope your AC gets fixed soon! I am sitting here in front of the heater !

light weight. Maybe tonight I’ll put her in just a sleevless onesie and
that. I had stopped using them because she is pulling up so much and
didn’t want her to trip but…I hope so too – today isn’t too bad but this weekend is supposed to be
WAY hot. We can spend the days outside and will be at SILs on Sunday
instead (and she has a pool) but nights are rough. They are
thinking/hoping it might be working tomorrow – I hope so!June 15, 2006 at 10:46 pm #9871AnonymousInactiveWe found a great sun hat that Claire is unable to pull off. It has a toggle/lace lock rather than just velcro or ties. It comes in three sizes (infant, toddler, kid), but the infant size does not have the toggle. The toddler size works fine on Claire and she is very tiny for a 17 month old (20#). I’d guess it would work pretty well on most babies who are at least 9 months old (it has some elastic in the back). My older daughter Emma wore it for the past two summers. Now, we bought Emma the kid size and passed along the toddler one to Claire. It has held up really well… has been worn tons, in the ocean, in the pool, on the playground; well worth the $20 we paid. The manufacturer is called SunDay Afternoons. Several websites sell this hat. Here is one:
