What a long road it has been so far. My little guy (who will be one tomorrow) is still suffering from reflux but thanks to this site and good care things are now manageable. He is happy most of the time and always has a smile for you. We have gotten into a routine and are really able to console him when he is having an episode (well at least I am. He is, after all, a mommy’s boy).
He still has periods of choking randomly, and has just begun sticking his fingers into the back of his throat to gag himself.(which his gi confirmed today is normal for a refluxer and not teething as so many people who think I overreact have been trying to say). He also still wakes at night. On a good night he goes to bed at 8 and wakes at 12, 4, and up at 7 or 8. On a bad night (which we have much less of now) he is up every hour or so. His naps are not ALWAYS perfect but are getting so much better. MOST days now he takes 1 good nap that may last anywhere from 1 hour to 2 hours, and a catnap later in the day which is normally about 30 min. Also, he thankfully has always eaten pretty well just a small quantity and often. He is now starting to eat more in quantity and less often, which really helps out when we have a lot to do on any given day.
It took me a good few months to get my sons gi to take me and my concerns seriously but finally after not backing down he is really listening. We now have a good relationship and I feel as though things are getting done. We go for a visit every 4 to 8 weeks to report any changes and are free to email whenever. He also likes for me to send videos of my son if there is anything that ever really concerns me. It is such a blessing to finally be heard!
Needless to say we have come a long way so far and may still have a long way to go, but finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, which at my weakest point I lost all had lost all hope for ever realizing. I am so thankful that I have had the oppertunity to stay home with my son and get him through is roughest moments, even more thankful that as of tomorrow I will have reached my goal of breastfeeding for at least a year (still going strong), and there are not words for how thankful I am for this site and for all of you who have written back to my posts. You all have gotten us through some of our hardest times. It is wonderful to know that as hard as this is we are not alone and there are people out there that understand our struggles and will be there to lift us up when we have hit rock bottom so Thank you Thank you Thank You!December 2, 2010 at 8:26 pm #67332hellbenntKeymasteryay!!
