InactiveHi Everyone
I just thought I would update you on all Tylers progress as it is his 1st birthday tommorow!
We had a party for him last weekend which was really great. Poor Tyler had to eat a banana whilst all the kids ate his birthday cake
. I promised him that next year he could have the whole cake to himself! He started walking about 2 weeks ago and loves to chase his big sister around. We have been slowly weaning him off the Losec at 2.5mg per week. We got down to the last 2.5mg and he got really miserable but then a couple of days later had another cold so Im not sure if it was reflux or a cold. I put his dose back up to 5mg until he gets rid of his cold then I will try again.
He is still waking about 4 times a night, but he can usually get himself back to sleep and I usually only have to get up once. I am hoping that he grows out of that soon because even though you dont have to get up it still stops you having a good nights sleep.
He is doing really great with vegetables and meat right now but fruit is still a real problem. He eats chicken, beef, lamb, potato, pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, brussel sprouts, parsnip, oats, amaranth and banana. He will be trialling wheat and soy once he gets rid of his cold.
He is so good with his bottle now. I can give him his bottle in the car and he will hold it and drink it by himself. For anyone with babies with bottle aversions you will know what a big achievement this is. He also lets other people give him a bottle and doesnt have to be in front of the tv. You can even talk or have other people come into the room when he is having his bottle. He is having 3 bottles a day and he has his formula in his cup with his breakfast.
So where do we go from here? Well hopefully we can completely wean him off the Losec to start off with. The next big challenge is dairy at 18 months. Fruit is going to be our other challenge, hopefully that will become easier with time.
I wanted to thank you all for your support, I never imagined his first year would have been as difficult as it was. I am so looking forward to a relaxed trouble free second year!

InactiveThanks everyone.
Lori – the formula change was the answer for us but it has been a really long road. The one thing that I have learned is that even after the pain is gone, is that the psychological damage takes alot longer to heal. I feel really sad that he suffered from 5 months of dairy and then it took another 6 months for him to really trust the bottle again. I guess that my only advice is that healing takes a long time and that these babies will do it in their own time. One other thing that I found is that once they are eating a decent amount of solids that there isnt the same pressure there to finish that bottle, so I guess you are a little more relaxed.
