very confused

I was just on marci-kids web site and am confused as to whether my son has the correct dosage. He currently takes 15 mg prevacid packets (mix packet with water and administer through syringe) once a day. on the web site it says medicine should be given more than once a day (if i am understanding it correctly) because kids metabolize quicker than adults. can anyone clearify this for me?

yes, even close to three yrs ago (!) my ped GI told us to split up Jonah’s PPI dose into 2 (we tried 3 doses on our own at times, just via the course of ‘natural’ experimentation…)

what was your son on – was it packet form? i dont know how i would evenly divide the packet

we were on the packets for a while..basically to divide them I’d just guess, I figured he was getting the full dose whether it was even or not!

jonah wasn’t on the packets, but I agree w/ Jill that any which way you divide them up, the whole packet will be given over a 24hr period…

thank you so much! Rowan begins to get very fussy/upset around 8 at night and off and on through the night. i have been giving him the whole packet at around noon. so… breaking it up 3x a day 8 hours that would make sense…i think? should be interesting to see if there is any difference. did your ped. tell you to do this or was it through your own research/marci-kids that you knew to do this? i wonder why my ped. does not tell me/know much to tell me. they did not even tell me to continue the axid because the prevacid takes a while to work – imagine how confused i would have been then thinking the prevacid wasnt working!

we have an appt. monday morning with Dr. Suzanne Nelson through children’s memorial hospital – recommended through this site – I am so hopeful!
