I was just wondering if anyone know if I need to wait 30 minutes to give my baby a meal after I have given him compounded Prevacid. I read that when you compounded prilosec you didnt need to wait, so I just wondered if it was the same for the prevacid.
IF it is compounded correctly and with sodium bicarbonate then you shoudl not need to wait… but if you are able to wait, then you are 2x sure. Everyone gets different advice, but i was told that it was more important to give on empty stomach than to wait…
SPeak to the pharmacy about how they are compoundidng it – we fought so hard to get it compounded correctly… but it was finally done correctly (athough we switched to solutabs)
i am having the same problem with my pharmacy and questions about the stability. i would suggest calling them and asking them for a printout of what exactly is in the med. then contact marci-kids and find out if it’s okay. this is what i am going to do today. one of the other mothers told me that there pharmacy told her that they were only putting in sodium bicarc and she askes for a printout, well needless to say that wasn’t the only thing that was going in good luck and let me know
Hi, We are using the compounded Prevacid. I don’t think you have to give it on an empty stomach & wait 30 minutes, but we do it anyway. The only reason we do is that Bryce is less likely to spit up the medicine this way. So I believe you would be fine giving it with food if your baby doesn’t spit up her food.
just figure out how to ask (ok demand, lol) how to get it compounded- got the the ‘medicines’ forum & click on ‘treating GERD w/ PPIs and then scroll down to the purple post, ‘Prevacid 101’
