I wanted to ask the “experts”
….. My GI has recommended we start weaning Haden off his Zegerid. He is now 10 months (it goes by way too fast!). He takes 3.5 ml- 3x a day. She wants us to give him his regular doses on day 1 and then day 2 give him only a morning dose and a afternoon dose and then day 3 his regular dose and then day 4 only a morning dose and a afternoon dose. So, we are cutting his mg’s by a 1/3 every other day. We’re supposed to do this for 2 weeks and then if all goes well go down to just 2 doses a day of 3.5 ml until we see her at the end of Sept.My question is…..how soon after weaning would I begin to see symptoms if he wasn’t ready for the decrease???? Would it be gradual or does it happen quickly?
If you have had success weaning your child from a PPI- how did you do it?

Congratulations on getting to this point!! I weaned Myles off of
Prevacid at 10 months. I just gave him 1/2 his dose for two weeks and
then stopped it. He’s done fine!!!!Joel from marci-kids told me you could just stop all at once, but I was
more comfortable weaning a little more gradually. I would think you’d
know in only a few days if he still needed his meds. Some moms here
have stopped meds and symptoms returned quickly so they knew it was too
soon.Good luck. I hope it goes as well for your little guy as it did for Myles.
