InactiveHi Everybody,
Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with the site. Things have gotten crazy once again. My husband is leaving for the Middle East with the Naval reserve in a couple of weeks. Needless to say things are a bit stressed around here. Anyway I have been successful at weaning Michael from the breast all day however he seems to be making up for it at night. I have weaned him to a cup with enriched rice milk. So at his normal nursing times I have given him a cup of milk with a snack in his high chair and that seems to have done the trick. He now nurses only at night before bed and in the early morning.
2 Questions. 1. Which should I take away next, the morning or the night? and 2. He seems to be waking up more now and wanting to nurse, it is the only way I can get him back to sleep. Any suggestions?
On the upside his reflux is doing much better. He has a check up with the ped on Tuesday, the allergist for a retest on Sept 18th and the ped gi on october 13th. Hopefully we are seeing the end of all of this. Anyway, sorry again for not keeping in touch hope all of you and your little ones are well. Thanks in advance.

Keymasterthat’s how I weaned jonah…
as for which one to give up- evening or morning-it’s totally personal…
is there one where it means more to either one of you?
in our case it fell into place when there happened to be 2 nights in a row where i didn’t put jonah to bed-
one night was a night that me & 2 girlfriends went out to dinner bcse one was moving out of town…
dh had no problem (or the babysitter for that matter) putting jonah to bed if I wasn’t around- it’s the same now actually- he’s 3 & if I’m home I’m hte one to put him to bed…otherwise, anyone can…
the next night me & dh went out so the babysitter put him to bed…so then it was 2 nights of not being nursed to sleep…then I think dh did it again (I went somewhere? I can’t remember!) & then the next night dh suggested I try putting him to bed w/o nursing him-
I rocked him & sang to him and he had his pacifier & he didn’t even try to nurse…I cried silently over this
…then I put him in his crib, on his belly and that was that…August 20, 2006 at 9:17 pm #11715Anonymous
InactiveI don’t know for sure, but I wonder if putting him to bed without nursing him may help to stop the waking and wanting to nurse back to sleep. I’m a firm believer that a baby will usually look for the same routine to get back to sleep as he/she had to go to sleep in the first place.
I’m glad he is doing well and I hope all his check-ups show that he is healthy and reflux free.

Laura, I was wondering how and when you weaned Jonah from the pacifier?
