InactiveOK, Ladies! I am logging my food. I should probably start my own food diary thread and you can all ignore it if you wish, but I figured I had to start immediately. I have told myself that I am officially starting Monday, but I figured I would take some of the advice (THANKS EMILY!!) and try to get into some routines.
So:
This morning, I had one egg, on piece of whole wheat toast and a peaches in light syrup cup, and 16 ounces of water. That was at 8AM. I’ll post my snack at 10:30. OK, maybe I should do this on papaer and post at the end of the day??? But I feel like now I have obligation, so I will be accountable. Let’s just hope that three days from now (typical for me) that I don’t fall off the wagon…. I weighed in this morning and I will NEVER repeat the number I saw… Let’s just say I was 117 when I got engaged, 165 on my wedding day, and I haven’t seen 165 since! That was 7 years ago and I have been steadily moving in the wrong direction! My goal, to loose 75 lbs…..
That will stilll be above where I want to be, but it will be lower than I have been in MANY years, so, here we go……
OH, and the thread names….
You ladies are great!!March 21, 2007 at 9:37 am #28041Anonymous
Inactivethanks for the laugh this morning! i am a big woman, always have been, but kept it in check by exercise. something happened between pregnancy, miscarriage, stress, stress, stress that made me through any decorum out the window, ie — never met a (fill in the blank here) — “Donut” i didn’t like. who the heck eats donuts, besides men? i am on week 4 of weight watchers (for the millionth time) and just have to put a shout out for the “core” plan which is good for folks who have some binging issues. you can eat what you need to feel full, just no extraneous fat, refined grains or sugar. after a few weeks off sugar, my cravings have gone away and my energy for all things returned. it doesn’t hurt that i have lost about 15 # (and this is with about 3x week exercise, more when i can do it.
i should mention i go to meetings with my bf who is like a size six. she likes the “structure.” i love her anyhow and she brings the coffee, so i can’t refuse her…
i need to lose about 45 more pounds (and that will never make me thin, trust me, my “skinny” weight is probably what most of you consider frighteningly fat). my husband is losing, too, just by virtue of healthier cooking.
i just purchased an elliptical that will be in my home office. the goal is to use the 3x week i make it to the gym to do some pilates and weight training, both of which have really helped emotionally and physically to promote a lot of energy.
just remember women, how great it feels when you eat healthy, get into shape, and lose weight…if you hate to exercise, definitely try to find something new, or someone new to work out with. time? what the heck is time…when i considered the flip side of not taking the time, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc, i thought — 20 minutes a day i can find…and it keeps getting longer…i am working ft, so initially i felt pretty guilty taking the time away from hannah to exercise, but i manage to fit it in at lunchtime and i go to the pool with her on the weekends…squirmy 3 year olds could be the best exercise yet…
i will definitely be checking this post…

InactiveI was also going to mention that my MIL has been doing the online version of Weight Watchers for a few months and had great success. I think it’s basically like regular Weight Watchers but you don’t have to go to any of the meetings. I think she’s lost like 25 lbs or so so far. Anyway, just an idea for any of you who need a structured plan, but don’t like the meeting side of it.

InactiveHey there, Becky! Good for you! Sounds like you are in a good place right now. And, yes, I love that not overly full feeling, but for some reason, I am my own worst enemy.
Always go to “see” you!!!

InactiveI am totally right there with you! I had lost 10 lbs lower than my pre-prego weight when Addy was 6 months old and NOW I AM 25 LBS OVER IT!!! UGH!!!! I even went to the doc to have my thyroid checked (it runs in my family) but it checked out fine. I have to do something! I haven’t changed my eating at all. I have got to get started doing something besides my daily walks!!!

Keymastertracy, you might want to research tyroid levels & tests bcse oftentimes a gen’l dr will tell you you’re fine when really you might be borderline

InactiveThanks, Laura! I will check and see…they didn’t even tell me what my level was…it kinda bothered me too that the doc didn’t pursue anything further…a nurse just called and said it checked out okay. Gaining nearly 30 lbs in 3 months should have gotten their attention more I think!

InactiveI love the thread name ideas. You know a common mistake people make is saying …I am on a diet and then having a super small breakfast…by lunch they are starving so then they just binge the rest of the day. Make sure you space your calories out and also make sure to eat a good breakfast…one that combines protien, fat and carbs. Oh gosh I feel like I sound like I work for Shape magazine or something, but it really works. Having only an apple for breakfast is going not going to cut it until lunch. Oh one more thing, here is something I actually love to have for lunch when I am in a rush…lean pocket ultras. You have to make sure it is ultra, but they have only 210 calories and like 16 grams of protien. Especially for those on the go people. Obviously, that isn’t enough for a meal, but add some friut and a piece of cheese or sometime, and it is pretty good. They have a pizza flavor and a meatball/motzeralla flavor that I like. All whole grain. And Luna Bars are great for a on the go snack that is healthy. I will try to think of more ideas later. Good luck everyone. Having someone to hold you accountable is going to be helpful!!!

InactiveAny name faves?
I’m having a hard time posting replies today for some reason… keeps coming back saying I don’t have Java script or I’m spamming!!!
So if someone else wants to take charge and start the threads that would be great. Otherwise, I’ll try to log on later and see if things work better.
Just to add to Therese’s great ideas…
Confessions of a junk food addict (for logging food intake)
I wanna get physical (for goal setting)
The good, the bad, and the flabby (for talking about progress and challenges)
….
my personal faves are “getting my rear into gear… and those pants”… LOL
