InactiveThanks Naomi and Beth! It is great!
Wow Gina! I wish I knew! We did have the ER visit in the morning, and then I walked through a lot of the building because I had to get back from the ER to the S building to do the bloodwork so I may have walked by G, but you are right, it is HUGE!I would love to if we come back that way! Hopefully not for a while, but will let you know! Thanks!Ann MarieSeptember 24, 2007 at 5:18 pm #43226Anonymous
InactiveOh Ann Marie
Sounds like a great doctor… so glad that someone is going to help out… did he say anything about having him evaluated by the dev ped? (know you were looking into this…).So scary about the airway reaction… i hope they figure out what is causing thisSeptember 24, 2007 at 5:23 pm #43229Anonymous
InactiveAnn Marie,
I’m so glad that you’ve found such a great doc and that he’s willing to work with you over the phone to help Carter. You are such a strong person and a great mother! It sounds terrifying what happened with his breathing. Please keep us posted.September 24, 2007 at 8:09 pm #43241Anonymous
InactiveThanks Thais and Lori. Yes, Lori, it sucks. This is the third time this year that he has difficulty breathing, and they have to give him oral steroids to help. Our Ped wrote me a prescription today so that I can just keep some on hand and use when he needs it. I just need to call and keep them in the loop, but it is really nice to have a team of doctors that understand that I know my child and they trust my judgement.
How are you feeling, Thais? It is getting so close!!! How many weeks now?
I forgot to talk about developmental ped, but our lawyer definitely wants us to get the evaluation and out of state, so I will be calling the doctors you provided. Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait, but we will see!
Thanks again, guys!
Ann Marie

InactiveAnn Marie,
How wonderful you got a doctor willing to help
. I am happy to hear Carter is doing better now. That sounded so scary
I’ll be going to Ohio too, to try to get more help for Kendra. It seems a lot of good caring doctors over there

InactiveWhat great news!! It seems so rare nowadays to find such a caring doctor. I’m impressed that the ER called to check on Carter too! WOW!! You wouldn’t find that around here!!!
I hope you are able to find out the cause of his breathing problems so that you don’t have to rely on steroids. GOOD LUCK!!!

InactiveHi Anne Marie,
I was holding my breath as I read your post, hoping there was an answer at the end. I’m sorry you don’t have the answer yet, but I am so happy that you found such a wonderful doctor for Carter. I hope he’s a genious and he gets it all figured out soon, and I hope little Carter is doing well now. Is his breating better? How long does he have to take the steroids when this happens?
Please keep us posted.September 25, 2007 at 4:25 pm #43309Anonymous
InactiveThanks Leo, Amy, and Christine!
Yes, Christine, Carter is breathing better, but he still sounds stridorous (not even sure if that is a real word). In the past, we have done one dose of steroids at the hospital, and then one in 24 hours. The ENT this time wants Carter on a 5 day course (we spoke with him at length yesterday) so today is day 2 in addition to the steroids he got at the hospital on Thursday and 24 hours later on Friday.I don’t like the idea of always relying on steroids, but if the alternative is to give him a tracheostomy (sp?), then I will deal with steroids. I think I am going to get a second opinion with a good pulmonologist, but I want to do some reasearch and find a good on before I make an appointment.Hope all is well with you and all of the kids!!!Ann MarieSeptember 25, 2007 at 5:38 pm #43311Anonymous
InactiveWow, glad everything turned out to be ok. Thanks for keeping us updated. I agree with Amy, it is so rare to find a dr who actually cares these days. I’m so happy to know that they still exist.
