InactiveHello all!
Owen got tubes on the 5th and has slept through the night ever since! Just a little update!Anyway, I have a weird thing going on with him that has been around for a long time. I can’t say it’s been since birth, but it’s been since soon after. His feet and hands are always cold and wet. I mean always, especially when he’s worked up about something. When he’s sleeping, I can say that sometimes they are dry, but not very often.Any ideas what this may be?
We have had everything under the sun done including heart, upper gi, chest x rays, every kind of blood work I can think of and then MSPI and reflux was our final answer.Everyone who holds him mentions it and it’s starting to annoy me b/c I don’t have an answer. I also love the quote “well, it just doen’t seem normal” okay thanks, I already know that!
I just really noticed it a minute ago b/c we were in Griffin’s room and he has wood floors and Owen was standing up to his train table and there were wet streaks where his feet where.Looking for any suggestions!!July 13, 2007 at 2:00 pm #39140Anonymous
InactiveAddy’s feet and hands were always so clammy up until we got rid of all the intolerant foods (she was only on neocate). After that, it went away so I guess she was around 8 months old when I noticed the difference. Very strange though bc no doc could explain it.

Keymasterhave you asked the ped GI? maybe ask the ped GI if it’s something you should be concerned about- see a pediatric endochronologist?

InactiveHi Erica,
I’ve heard of this, and if it’s what I’m thinking, it’s called hyperhidrosis. I did a quick search, and there are two kinds – palmer hyperhidrosis (hands), and plantar hyperhidrosis (feet) that are usually associated with each other. I guess it can be caused by a lot of things – even emotions. You could probably find out more info if you did a search or maybe ask your doctor if this is what it is…July 13, 2007 at 2:42 pm #39156Anonymous
InactiveDo you think it could be caused by the solids I give him? He seems to be doing well now on goat milk/ neocate/ solids. The tummy stuff seems to be resolved. He sleeps great and is eating so much better than the last 5 months had been.
Should I just let it go?Heather- I went to college with a girl who always had cold wet hands and she had a name for it, but I don’t remember what it was. Sounds like what you are describing.I guess my doc hasn’t been to worried about it, so I’ll maybe see what he says at 9 mo visit. We have been to a ped GI, but that was back in the day when nothing was going right, and his wet hands and feet were very secondary to everything we were going through. Never did ask her about it, but I do remember her saying something about it in her office, but she related it to him being in so much pain.July 13, 2007 at 6:29 pm #39183hellbennt
Keymastermaybe fax the ped GI- ask her does she think it’s GI related or should you seek an opinion from someone else and if so, from whom?
