Seth has been in the Graco convertible car seat for sometime now. He weighs about 30 lbs. so he is well within the weight limits (goes up to 40 lbs. I think) but I’ve noticed lately that his head is now above the top of the seat and he is often back there sitting cross legged like he is uncomfortable. Is it time to step up to the next thing? If so, what would you recommend? A booster with a back? Mom2Seth2007-08-31 14:05:07
That’s what we did for Dylan, but now he is in booster with no back. I know I think, though, recently they have said to keep them in the bigger car seat like the one you have now for longer? Not sure though…. We have one of those things that goes around the seat belt to make sure it is positioned correctly across his front…
I have to admit, it is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier, and now Dylan can buckle and unbuckle himself as well.
he is way too young for a booster. that is really dangerous. you need a convertible with a higher height limit. please check out the car seat.org forums and website.
if you look in this forum, there are posts about this- I’m not at home nor is this my computer, so I can’t go looking for you (sorry) but I’ve given links to the BBB (baby bargains board) where there’s a lot of great info posted, too- look for the links that are http://www.winsorspeak something like that…
but anyway I’d say to go as long as possible in a 5 pt harness- like a britax marathon- jonah is 4 and still in his- probably will be for a bit longer- ‘they’ say that at a point their growth is more in the legs than torso, so he should have a while to go in the seat as it goes to 65 lbs (maybe 55? jonah isn’t 40lbs yet so I haven’t kept the upper weight limit in mind, lol)
