My ds got his prevacid upped last night and he actually seemed worst. He was up at 11 and cried unless we picked him up until 12. The he fell asleep and woke up again at 1 and again was good when I was holding him. I fed him and he took 8 ounces and slept until 3:30 when he fussed until 4 when he started screaming so I fed him and he took 4.5 ounces and went back to sleep until 6:45. Does this sound like he is hungry? I odn’t think it is the reflux becasue as soon as I touch him he stops crying so it seems like he is either hungry or just mad about being in the crib. What are you thoughts please? We are at our wits end with lack of sleep…

Good idea Christine – I would definitely have ears checked. Although I
guess he might not eat as well if it were that. Extra gas/cramps from
the Prevacid increase (which sucking/eating might help ease)? If so,
that should settle down after he adjusts.

My son had terrible tummy aches when we first increased his Prevacid, but it subsided after about a week.

If it’s not his ears, tummy ache, or teething, he may just be fighting sleeping in his own bed. The fact that he calms down as soon as you touch him makes me think he just wants mommy nearby. I know that doensn’t help much, because what do you do?

On the other hand, my little girl had silent reflux and she was definitely in pain at night, but she’d be comforted for a short time with just a nuk or a pat on the back, and knowing mommy was nearby.

How much Prevacid is he taking now? 11.25 mg doesn’t seem like enough. My son takes 10mg 3x’s per day. He weighs 18 lbs. Are you sure his reflux is under control?

I was wondering about ears but as soon as I pcik him up he stops and as soon as I go to lay him back down he screams. He did it just now for his nap and what came of it was that he was gassy but that didn’t seem to be botherin him but he just didn’t want to sleep. Now, 1 hour later he is snoozing away. He was just upped to 15mg of Prevacid last night. The hard part with Ryan is that he is an extremely happy baby so you don’t always know what is going on. however, he has always been a mommy’s boy and will sleep through gagging and choking as long as he is in bed with me but I want my bed back
