Where to get Caracream?

My son is almost 3 months old and has been on zantac, axid, prevacid and now priolosec. He totallyl refused to take the prilosec so we had it flavored with bubble gum. Then I read that flavoring is bad and we should use caracream. Where do I get this? Do certain pharmacies have it?

IMO, the best way to get it is directly from Marci-kids. I believe that a poster in another thread may be offering you some of their unused bottles.

The problem is that prilosec tastes bad in general, even in CaraCream. It’s the medicine itself that is bitter. But it works really well so it’s certainly worth a try. Marci-kids also gives samples if you ask.

I forgot to add that you can also try zegerid. You can get a script for it. It’s the same thing as the caracream/prilosec, but apparently tastes better.

IF you think that your PPI can be compounded CORRECTLY then you can get flavoring on the side and give (flavoring) at each dose

caracream at marci kids 573-882-8929 or 8904 to speak to doc phillips or you can have all my 11 bottles, my dd is on nexium she didnt like taste of caracream, pm me if you want it.

Okay…so do you ladies have the pill form of the priolsec and just mix it with the caracream or do you add it to the liquid compound? I get so confused. Zegerid is Prilosec w/caracream?

caracrem is the original zegerid, if that makes sense. Marci-kids developed caracream- a way of “compounding your own PPI meds at home” and you can use it with either prilosec or prevacid CAPSULES (not the pill form). They send you two bottles- one called therasol and one called caracream. You break open a certain number of capsules into the therasol bottle, put in the fridge for 10 minutes, then add the caracream flavouring bottle. That makes the stable suspension in CaraCream.

A few years ago, marci-kids sold the patent for CaraCream to a company called Santaurus- they used the knowledge to make zegerid. Zegerid is prilosec + buffer. It makes a stable prilosec suspension and tastes like peach mint.

I’ve never used it as you can’t get it in Canada.

I also have 11 bottles of the caracream jr. kits. Something in the Caracream made Austin very unhappy, so we are back to prevacid capsules in applesauce. Let me know if you want them.
