Zegerid clarification

Hi all..

The other day I posted that my doctor prescribed Zegerid for my son at 10mg a day. He suggested twice a day at 5mg doses. Someone was nice enough to tell me that Joel had posted that doses have to be atleast 7mg to work.

I emailed Dr. Phillips. Doses only need to be atleast 7mg to have the right buffer for the 40mg pack. It’s 3.5 for the 20mg pack.

Before I go and email him again, does anyone know if it’s ok to mix more than one packet at a time. Say, if I make 3 packets and just put 21mls of water instead of 7. (Dr. Phillips said you can do 6.5-7mls)

I do two 20 mg packets at a time mixed with 13 ml water. I don’t see any problem mixing 3 at one time ( in fact I’ve thought about doing it myself so I don’t have to be mixing so often) because Joel said that it keeps up to 21 days in the fridge.

If you hear anything otherwise, please let me know.

Just to make sure no one is confused, the minimum dose when using the 40 mg Zegerid packets is 14 mg, which is 7 mL when mixed at a 2mg/mL concentration. The minimum dose when using the 20mg packets is 7 mg, which is 3.5 mL when mixed at 2mg/mL.

It is fine to mix up several packets at a time. Just make sure that it is refrigerated and used up in 21 days. Add 6.5 mL of water to each 20 mg packet, or 16.5 mL of water to each 40 mg packet.
