The same thing happened to me when my first child was 2 weeks old. At one point she screamed for 40 hours straight. The only product that helped slightly was the vibrating bouncy seat. I think the vibrations help a bit with the reflux. We tried the Nexium and the Nutramigen as well as every type of bottle on the market. We eventually ended up in the ER because her screaming was so bad. In the ER the doctor put her on a medicine called Levsin drops. These drops are an antispasmodal. He told us she had reflux and to use this medication. She was the perfect baby after that. She literally slept for about 2 days after she was on the medicine because she was so tired from not sleeping. The Levsin drops were a lifesaver for us. When my second daughter was born I went through a similar experience but was surprised the Levsin didn’t work for her. It ended up she was allergic to all protein products and she was put on a formula called Neocate. You need to get it at the pharmacy with a rx. This formula is completely amino acid based without proteins to breakdown. She was on it for 6 months and it cost us about $600 a month. I believe insurance will cover it in some states. Or if it isn’t covered in your state, you can write a letter to try to get it covered. I now have a 1 1/2 week old and I am praying he doesn’t have the same problems with GERD. I hope this information is helpful:)
