InactiveYeah, me too. Gift cards are so easy, but I’m hoping to come up with something more original this year.

Liza wants to buy her teachers jewelry! Yikes. I don’t think so. I’ll be checking this thread for some ideas!!

InactiveWe have done in the past small baskets with microwave popcorn, movie type candy, and blockbuster gift cards. It is a cute presentation in the baskets.
We have also just sent in one of those gift baskets of goodies from the online ordering services for all of them to share.
Looking for a new idea this year as well….

InactiveChristine,
Yes, I’m in big trouble over here! Liza has her eyes on a pink and diamond ring at Walmart, for herself. She just figure out why mommy won’t buy it for her. Afterall, she is a princess and princesses need pretty things!

Sorry to hijack…
Anne Marie, I like the basket idea…it’s new for me and Liza’s teachers! Do you have a link?

InactiveI was reading this and I thought I woudl tell you ladies what I have done in the past with Rylie’s teachers. For Christmas, I gave them coasters with her feet and hands….they just loved them!!! I would say anything hand made by the kids are the best present you can receive from kids this age.
I hope this helps?

InactiveI must admit that the gifts that I love the most are the ones that students make themselves. When I got married, one of my kids gave me a coffee mug and he painted on it himself. I love it and still use it. One time I got a card decorated with different beads and signed by the student. It’s fun, I keep them all. Oh, and I got another coffee mug that was personalized. Hmm, what else? I got a teddy bear that was also personalized. They’re fun. There is also a webside http://www.personalizationmall.com They have some fun stuff also. Hope this helps.

InactiveI’m a gift certificate kind of mom… I hope that doesn’t make me lazy! … I’m just unoriginal. I like mall gift certificates the best. How much do you spend per teacher?

Inactivehttp://findgift.com is kind of a cool site to get ideas for gifts. It’s neat because you can narrow down your search by gender, relationship (like teacher), age, occasion, etc. You can even put in what price range you want. I’ve used this site a lot for gift ideas.

InactiveHonestly, as a teacher, gift certificates are a great idea. You can always use them. So many times I’ve ended up feeling horribly guilting for giving things away or (gulp) throwing them away because a person can only use so many coffee cups – especially when you don’t even drink coffee! I’ve always enjoyed getting things with personal meaning though. One of my favorite gifts ever was a Christmas tree that was made out of purple feather dusters. It was quite possibly the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen, but it fit the personality of the student that gave it to me so well that it made me smile every time I saw it. I kept it until it fell apart during one of my school moves.

InactiveI forgot to add, I loved Ann Marie’s popcorn, blockbuster idea. One of my co-workers gave that to us as a wedding present and we loved it!

InactiveOK, what is this all about
. I have heard of mums doing this but WHY? I mean I know teachers etc do wonderful jobs and are valuable etc, but they get paid don’t they? I mean, I do a pretty neat job myself but my clients don’t give me gifts
. Sorry if I have offended anyone by this statement, but I just don’t get it (I can lack the sensitive bone on occasion). I am really greatful that Alana’s carers do a fantastic job with her, but I thank them every day for that, I mean I do care about them, but a gift???? -
