Topic: MPI
Hi,
I am thinking that my DS has a MPI, I don’t know if it is soy yet. He is 8 weeks old ans has relux and real bad colic type symptoms. He is taking zantac 1.6 mL BID. He was spitting up alot (2-3 times pre feeding) and it was usually really mucousy. His poop is stringy, and generally fussy when nursing and after. He has not been a good sleepr recently either. He would arch and wiggle and pull off and on the breast….BUT in the last few days he seems to be doing better. Less spit-up less fussyness. I have really cut out dairy (except I did have cream in my coffee yesterday) for about 1 week or so. Do you think that that may have been the problem? I do “hear” him reflux though but he isn’t fussy when it happens though. He does seem like a different baby in the last few days…..
Keeping my fingers crossed….Just a side note….in the evening his eyes get really red and puffy and watery? Any thoughts on that….could it be related to the MPI?My son was born 4 weeks early. He is now 3 weeks old. He was having what I thought was major gas pains. I took him to the doc and she changed his formula (breastfeeding and suplementing formula once a day) to a soy based. She also put him on zantac. He is now showing signs of silent reflux and screams in pain. He only stops when he has a bottle in his mouth or I am breastfeeding. He could eat every 30 mins.
Is this normal? How long does it take for Zantac to work? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. I am so upset that he is in pain it breaks my heart. Thanks for listening.Topic: Help! Med schedule and ???
Any ideas or input is helpful
1) My DD is on three Reflux meds and 1 antibuitoc right now.
Zantac 3x a day (.7ml)
Prilosec 2x a day (3ml)
Reglan 3x a day (.5ml) 30 mins BEFORE feeding..
and Augmentin 2.5ml with nursing 2x a day, the she goes to Bactrim one time a day for a maintenance dose
issue one: the prilosec is flavored at Target… which i found out now makes it no good after 2 weeks. If its not flavored, she gags and pukes it up.
What meds work ok together, shoudlt’ be given together, etc?
She is 4 months, breastfed, and weighs 11lbs
I have been on TED since Friday. I feel like I am starving. I try to eat a lot but still feel hungry. I am not seeing any improvments in my son’t fussiness, gassiness and all the stuff he was doing before I went on TED. I had cut out dairy almost a week before I started TED.
How long does it take to se any results on TED. For reference my son is on 15mg prevacid solutab. He would have been on it two weeks this coming Friday. We give him one dose at night on an empty stomach. He weighs about 10lbs. He seems to have pain when he tries to poop. He is also very gassy. He arches, extends his body, grunts and seems extremely uncomfortable when he is eating or trying to poop. His pediatrician wants me to put him on alimentum for two weeks and see what happens but I haven’t given up on breastfeeding yet.His poops are back to normal yellow color.ThanksTopic: Another question
Here is my last post, this question I have is in addition…
My introduction post has all the details… but here is short version. At 13 days my son quit breathing long enough to begin to turn “dusky” in his face. This was almost 2 weeks ago. We were in the hospital for 5 days. They ran TONS of tests and all they found was severe reflux/ GERD. He had 6 apnea episodes in the hospital. We were sent home last Sunday on an apnea monitor. We went 9 days without an apnea episode. Well, night before last he had and episode, another yesteray, and now one this morning. My question is this… all of the episodes aside from the one this morning happened shortly after he ate. The one this morning was 3 hours after he ate. Can that still be attributed to the GERD? Can anyone else who has dealt with apnea PLEASE share your experiences with me. My baby will be 4 weeks old on Thursday. He is on Prevacid and Reglan. I know I am probably in for a long struggle, but these episodes have me scared to death. He seems to me and everyone else to be healthy otherwise… Please help…

Here is my addition: I take valtrex and zyrtec everyday and have been told they are safe for breastfeeding. Do you think they could be causing or making his reflux worse??Thanks SO much…Topic: MSPI question
My son is on prevacid and that seemed to have helped with the crying and fussing after feedings. He is breastfed and I am on the TED diet. I am on day 7 of this diet. But we are still dealing with extreme fussiness and gas. He looks like he is in so much pain when he is pooping. He arches and is contantly grunting. We send his stool samples to be analyzed but haven’t received the results yet.
The doctor suggested that we switch him to Alimentum and give it about 2 weeks to owrk. Meanwhile he wants me to keep pumping in case my son doesn’t really have MSPI and he can go back to breast milk.I also noticed that Gavin is constipated today. He is trying so hard to poop. Could it be all the rice I have been eating on the TED diet.Thanksinto your breastmilk? from loosing weight, or from ketones
