I agree with Ann Marie- try the prevacid first-
if not there’s a baby here who couldn’t handle the corn in the formulas- that baby wound up on an elemental formula made by Ross-

well to be conservative you could try 1/4 of a tablet dissolved in some water…

I did a search and everything says take 1/2 a tablet & dissolve in a teaspoon of water

the instructions are for babies 6months & up weighing 15lbs I’d say

you can email dr philips & ask phillipsjo@health.missouri.edu, but I bet he’d say the prilosec dose needs to be increased?

it can take up to 14 days to see the full effect of the prevacid, so I would continue with the zantac until you see the prevacid working- make sure you space the meds 4hr apart

jonah loved the taste of caracream- I tasted it & it tasted to me like a yogurt (or white chocolate) covered pretzel

he was not on 40mgs but, I bet if he was, we wouldn’t have had to mess around with also giving him zantac and even carafate when his reflux was at it’s worst…

yes the prevacid should help, but you said you just started giving it? so that’s why I was saying to also give the zantac bcse it takes about 2 weeks to see the full effect of the prevacid. it was day 12 for my son, it was THAT noticeable…

it gets better with the right dose of meds… truly.

at 5mgs per kilo (being conservative with the dosing since she’s so little)
she could have

let’s say she’s 12lbs (one more ounce till she’s there)
that’s 5.5 kilos
5.5 kilos x 5 = 27.5mgs total of zantac for the day
the liquid is 15mgs/ml (see your bottle)

switching from one PPI doesn’t take the initial 2 weeks bcse the PPI is in the system and has started to heal the esophogus- so it’s not like starting from scratch. if you have any zantac/tagament/pepsid/axid around, you might want to give that, too, (4hrs seperate from the PPI) during the transition period

DO NOT STOP breastfeeding bcse the doctor tells you to!!! (this face is meant for the %*#*# doctor!!!)
