Topic: Please help me..
Hello I am new here..
Bare with me I am lacking sleep and listening to screaming as I type.
My son is 12 weeks old and has been a constant struggle. He is the complete opposite of my daughter…she was EBF and sleeping through the night at 2 months.
So he has been screaming from day 1… I continued to attempt breastfeeding for 2 weeks while he screamed, arched his back, sputters, coughed and sounded full on snot all the time.
So we went to formula…. Many different kinds. He is now on isomil (soy) as suggested by the ped. But he does not eat! Ever… He has never in his 12 weeks ate more then 3oz and that is only when I dream feed him(asleep)… Every other time he gulps down 1oz and then the inconsolable crying for hours begins …then once I get him settled and get another oz in it starts all over. This is my day all day and I have another child to care for. My poor daughter gets no attention now.
He does not sleep because he is hungry.. Wakes, eats an oz or 2 then screams.. Finally settles to keep and it begins again in 2 hours.
He is on Zantac 1.5ml twice a day. I have tried looking on this site for proper doses but no idea how to figure it out. He weights just over 11lbs.
Please help… I think I spend as much of the day crying as he does. I am so tired and frustrated.

Hi everyone, I’m a FTM with a 7-week-old son who was just prescribed Zantac for reflux. I was hoping to get some advice from those of you with similar experiences.
First of all, does this sound like reflux? His symptoms are excessive crying/fussiness throughout the day, especially following a feed, and especially at night. I am EBF, and he arches his back during feeds, but does not cry during feeding, and only occasionally releases his latch while arching. Immediately after feeding he will be very squirmy, seem really uncomfortable. His burps are wet about half of the time, and very sour smelling. I keep him upright after feedings, but when I do have to lie him down (to change him etc) he usually spits up. He has not had difficulty gaining weight, and wants to nurse often. He will often only stop crying if I allow him to nurse (even if he fed recently) and once on the breast, he nurses very slowly, which seems to me like he is not actually hungry, just comfort nursing. We aren’t getting much sleep at all because he wants to be held all day
and night. He cries if we lie him down (we have our bassinet on an
incline so he is not totally flat, but he still seems uncomfortable). He
isn’t spitting up much in his bassinet, but I do hear him swallowing
when I first lie him down (silent reflux?) and he always cries unless he is exhausted. He also started drooling a lot in the last few days.On the other hand, he also is extremely gassy, and at first I thought that he was only crying due to gas pains, but after reading more about reflux, I realized he seemed to have several symptoms. A couple weeks ago he was spitting up a ton, and I had an oversupply problem, so I switched to only nursing him on one side per feeding, which reduced his spitting up quite a bit. Even though the spitting up has reduced, the crying has not. He only seems comfortable when being held upright.
I was hoping to get some advice from others about if this truly sounds like reflux or not. Our pediatrician thought it did and prescribed Zantac. We started Zantac last Friday, and haven’t seen much of a difference yet (although the doctor said it can take up to 14 days to show improvement). I really don’t want to medicate him if unnecessary. I’ve heard that babies can have a really difficult time with gas pains until 4 months, so if this is more of a gas issue, I definitely want to discontinue the Zantac.
I’ve also read a few articles warning that medicating young infants for reflux can negatively impact their digestive development (by reducing or altering the stomach acids which are necessary for digestive health). I know that in severe cases the damage that reflux can do may necessitate treatment. My son seems to be in a lot of pain, and I just wanted to get some opinions on whether or not this sounds like reflux. Because he is gaining weight and wanting to nurse (doesn’t seem severe), I am more reluctant to medicate him. I would love to hear from people who have had young infants on Zantac or other medications and if your children have had other digestive issues later on. I want to do what I can to stop his pain, but I also don’t want to jeopardize his digestive development. I would really appreciate any advice!
Thank you

Hello everyone. My name is Kendra. I have two girls, Madeleine is 2 and Reagan is 5 weeks. Today Reagan was diagnosed with silent reflux. I am so exhausted and reaching out for support from others who have experience with the pain my poor baby is experiencing. The pediatrician really didn’t offer much support or advice and I’m devastated that I gave up breastfeeding 4 days ago because I thought she was not getting enough milk from me and it was so exrememly stressful at each feeding session that I switched to formula in hopes of a cure. When her condition continued to worsen I took her to the doctor to find out that it was silent reflux and breastfeeding was actually better than formula. I’m so lost.
